Requesting and Installing a New
License
Meister comes installed with a demo
license that gives you full access to all product features for 30-days after the
initial install. If you have purchased Meister, you will need to replace your
demo license with a permanent license. Contact your sales representative to
request your permanent license.
In order to ensure that your
Meister install is licensed correctly, your sales representative will need to
know the following information:

The name of your organization, as
you want it to appear. The Company Name is displayed in workflow

The e-mail address that you use for
a Meister contact. |

Host ID or Volume Serial Number of
Knowledge Base Server Machine |
You will need to provide a unique identifier
for the machine where you have installed the Knowledge Base server. The
unique identifier depends on the Operating System on which you are running
the Knowledge Base server.
Windows – The unique Volume Serial
number for a Windows machine can be found by entering the following
command:
vol
c:
AIX – The unique Host
ID for an AIX machine can be found by entering the following command:
uname -m
HP-UX – The unique
Host ID for a HP-UX machine can be found by entering the following
command:
uname -l (lower case L)
Linux – The Host ID on
a Linux machine is the hardware address (Hwaddr). This can be found
by entering the following command:
/sbin/ifconfig eth0
Solaris - The unique
Host ID for a Solaris machine can be found by entering the following
command:
hostid

Host Name of Remote Build
Servers |
You will need to provide the host name for any
machine that you have licensed as a Remote Build Server.
Windows – The
Host Name of the machine can be found by entering the following
command:
set COMPUTERNAME
AIX, HP-UX, Linux,
Solaris – The
Host Name of the machine can be found by entering the following
command:
echo $HOSTNAME |
Your sales representative will use
this information to generate a permanent license.kb file that will be sent by
e-mail.
After you have received your new license.kb file from your sales
representative, you will have to install it in the license directory of your
Knowledge Base server.

install your new license.kb
file:

directory. This will overwrite your old license. |

INSTALL>\kbserver |

Confirm that the Knowledge Base
server has started successfully by connecting to a Meister
perspective. |
