The Installation Zip file contains the GUI, Knowledge Base Server, Remote Build Server and Command Line Client. It does not contain the PostgreSQL database. If you would like to enable the reporting features dependent upon the PostgreSQL database, you will need to ensure that the PostgreSQL database is installed on the same location as you are installing the Knowledge Base Server itself. If you decide to configure your installation with multiple Knowledge Base Servers, each Knowledge Base Server will need it's own instance of the PostgreSQL database.
The following components will be installed from the installation Zip file.
o Meister GUI, an Eclipse Rich Client Platform which runs standalone, or inside of the Eclipse IDE as a plug-in.
o Knowledge Base Server, contains Workflow, Build Services, Build Methods, and Dependency Directory metadata collected by Meister GUI. Meister through the use of Web Services and SOAP updates the Knowledge Base Server, an Apache Tomcat Server.
o Remote Build Server, an agent that runs on remote machines and enables remote Workflow executions. The Meister GUI and Knowledge Base Server have the ability to submit the Workflows to the Remote Build Server.
o Command Line Client, local component that does the heavy lifting of running Workflows. The Command Line Client is required by every Meister install and is installed by default.
o Management Control Console, web based access for executing workflows and viewing logs and reports.
The default installation will install the Meister GUI, a local Knowledge Base Server, if needed, and Command Line Client providing the necessary environment to start executing and managing the process of creating the binaries in a reusable, consistent method. This default can be changed after the initial install.
