Extending the Eclipse IDE to perform Build Management  eclipse Ready

The OpenMake Software Eclipse Plug-in provides an automated method of building objects inside or outside of the Eclipse IDE using the OpenMake Build Servies. Automating your builds is critical as your Eclipse based applications grow into mission critical enterprise applications. OpenMake Software allows Eclipse developers to collaborate build activites through a central knowledge base improving the agility and speed of the build and release process.

No Script Conversion Required

And if you are currently using ad hoc scripts written in tools such as Ant or Maven you will not need to convert these scripts.  OpenMake Software references the Eclipse IDE project file and performs the conversion for you, relying on the most accurate artifacts available, the project file itself.  Performing tasks such as code and package refactoring becomes as easy outside the IDE as inside.  OpenMake Software Build Services regenerates the build.xml file for you, reducing the need to re-visit static scripts each time parameters, code or object repositories change. So there is no need to convert your scripts as OpenMake Software Build Services does not need them as a reference.

When using Openmake, an Eclipse Plug-in enables developers to completely automate the build management process through reusable Build Methods. Ant build tasks are derived dynamically based on the Eclipse project file. Once installed, the Openmake Plug-in monitors a developer's work activities. Any additions to the Eclipse Project, such as changes to the Java build path or changes to project dependencies, code and package re-factoring are automatically managed by Openmake allowing the quick re-generation of the build.xml file. Builds can then be done inside or outside of the Eclipse IDE creating a dynamic and agile build to release process. . This plug-in is based on technology from the Eclipse Project at www.eclipse.org.

What are Plug-ins

Plug-ins are the connectors that join the tasks within the application lifecyle.  Starting with Development Plug-ins, IDE project files are used as the basis for automatically generating build scripts.  Development Plug-Ins standardize your builds inside or outside of the IDE creating an easy transition from a point and click build to a continuous integration build.

Source Code Control and deployment plug-ins support the workflow steps that occur before and after your build. From code check-outs and executable check-ins to calling testing and deployment tools, SCM and Deployment plug-ins create the workflow that supports your continuous process automation.
