Build Management and the IBM Rational Suite

Manage your Build to Release process using the IBM Rational  Development Suite and OpenMake Software.  OpenMake supports a "Ready for Rational" validated plug-in for IBM ClearQuest, IBM Rational Application Developer (RAD), IBM Rational Software Architect (RSA) and IBM ClearCase.  OpenMake Software integrates into IBM RAD and RSA by generating build.xml files from the IBM RAD or RSA project file using Openmake's unique Build Services and Build Methods.  Developers can collaborate build meta data using th Openmake community developed knowledge base.  When builds execute, IBM ClearQuest information and IBM ClearCase item history is gathered in conjunction with Openmake's  dependency discovery creating detailed Build Audit Reports and Footprints.  Items used in the build are identified even when the components are not managed by the ClearCase dynamic views. 

Openmake provides IBM RAD and IBM RSA the option of creating adaptable and dynamic reusable Build Methods via the Openmake Build Services.  Changes in the application structure such as caused by code re-factoring and package re-factoring are simplified.  As the IBM RAD or RSA IDEs addresses these changes, the build.xml file is automatically updated.  This adaptability creates the dynamic, self-documenting approach to development needed for today's fast changing software landscape.

No Script Conversion Required

And if you currently are using ad hoc scripts written in tools such as Ant or Maven you will not need to convert these scripts.  OpenMake Software references the IBM RAD or RSA IDE project file and performs the conversion for you, relying on the most accurate artifacts available, the project file itself.  Performing tasks such as code and package re-factoring becomes as easy outside the IDE as inside.  OpenMake Software Build Services regenerates the build.xml file for you, reducing the need to re-visit static scripts each time parameters, code or object repositories change. So there is no need to convert your scripts as OpenMake Software Build Services does not need them as a reference.
